One out of every 166 school aged children in Saskatchewan has an autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
Mental Health & Wellness Team (MHWT)
This month our team had the opportunity to facilitate and participate in a virtual Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) knowledge sharing series with the Saskatchewan First Nations Family and Community Institute. We shared information with the group on what ASD is, how it can impact mental health, and ways to support autistic people. We are continuing to work through our waitlist of clients for counselling support. The team is busy completing intakes, connecting with new and existing clients, and also planning for our winter groups. We are currently working on setting up a Facebook group for our autistic adult clients. This will provide our clients a safe place to connect virtually with their peers.
