Mental Health & Wellness Team (MHWT)

We are still accepting applications for our PEERS social skills group for young adults which we will be offering virtually starting April 28th. This is the first evidence-based group treatment program for young motivated adults 18+ with Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as other neurodevelopmental disorders and social challenges. Each weekly session will teach individuals to learn and strengthen social skills that they may face with being on the spectrum. The program will run for 10 weeks through an online interactive setting (Zoom), with homework assigned to practice the skills taught each week.

Young adults will learn about:

  • Using social media and online platforms to develop and maintain friendships
  • Conversational skills
  • Appropriate use of humor
  • Electronic communication
  • Dating skills
  • Organizing get togethers
  • Handling direct and indirect bullying
  • Handling disagreements

Please reach out to us if you would like more information on this program.

We are continuing to offer the Parent Management Training (PMT) group for 6-19 years on Tuesday evenings. This month we offered our Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Information Session and we had a great turn out of parents and grandparents all wanting to learn more about ASD so they can better support their loved ones. We continue to offer mental health support to our clients and families through virtual and in-person counselling sessions as well as help them connect with other community resources that may benefit them.
