Individuals with autism tend to be diverse. Therefore, it is difficult to use words such as all or none when describing this group.
Celebrate Autism!
Today, we’re sharing one of our success stories from our Summer Day Camps. This is from Elissa, one of our Summer Playtime staff. (our Summer Playtime Day Camps are for children ages 3-6)
Elissa shares about A.:
“When camp began, A. had a very challenging time with transitions and he would always have an outburst. But, as the week progressed, he began to trust us more and by the end of the week, he was no longer having outbursts when leaving different locations.”
This is just one of our success stories from Summer Day Camps this year. The campers have been supported by our amazing and patient staff to move past their fears to try new things. We see our campers growing and succeeding in the Day Camp environment where they feel safe and cared for. We’re so happy to support our campers to learn new skills in “real world” settings…and having fun is a major part of this, too!
