People do not grow out of autism. Autism is a lifelong disorder; however, the manifestation of symptoms may change over time. While there is yet no known cure, autism is definitely treatable.
Autism Intervention Program (AIP)
AIP’s Fall block of service is off to a busy (and great) start! We currently have 33 children/youth enrolled in group programming, which is being delivered virtually and in-person right now. That’s the greatest number of participants we’ve had enrolled in quite some time! We also have 22 families enrolled in groups for caregivers and 21 clients receiving individualized sessions with a Behaviour Therapist or Speech-Language Pathologist. This month, our team has been taking advantage of some online professional development opportunities covering topics such as Indigenous culture and practices, being trauma-aware, and supporting mental health in the workplace. We are beginning to plan for Winter 2022 programs and are excited to be adding a new pilot program to our roster – Secret Agent Society – sponsored in part by SaskTel!
