Speech-Language Pathologist

Individually designed programs best meet the needs of a person with autism. Those with autism should be learning, living and working in settings where there is ample opportunity to communicate and interact with others who have the skills they lack.

Contract Term Position – Approximately 5-10 hours per week (approximate total of 100 hours)

Autism Services of Saskatoon is seeking an energetic and motivated individual to fill a contract term position of Speech and Language Pathologist. The successful candidate will have experience providing communication support to young autistic individuals and a passion for caregiver education. Reporting to the Director of the Autism Intervention Program, this position will involve leading the Hanen More Than Words© Program for caregivers of children aged 0-5 years with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This is a 12-week program involving group session facilitation and 1:1 client/caregiver sessions as they relate to the group. There will be flexibility allowed in scheduling of group and 1:1 sessions.

The ideal candidate will have:

Master’s Degree in the area of responsibility; must be a member of and licensed with the College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists of Saskatchewan (CSASK; formerly SASLPA)
Demonstrated understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Clinical experience working with families of young children with ASD or related communication challenges;
Knowledge about various forms of Alternative and Augmentative Communication (both high and low tech)
Current Hanen membership
Commitment to providing neurodiversity affirming care to clients and their families
Excellent communication skills (verbal/written); decision making skills; professional judgement skills; and organizational/time-management skills
Strong presentation skills and computer skills including Microsoft Office
