Autism
Consulting Services
The
goal of the Autism Consultant is to offer support to families
with children under 19 years of age, who have autism. Any family with a child
who is on a waiting list for a suspected diagnosis of an autism
spectrum disorder or has a diagnosis of an autism spectrum
disorder may qualify for
services.The program:
-
is funded through the Saskatoon District Health Board, along
with activity grants and fundraising activities.
-
provides intervention through home and community-based services
designed to assist both the child and the family.
-
helps children and youth with autism to develop skills aimed at
independence and socialization.
-
provides public awareness and education regarding autism.
-
provides support and pertinent information
regarding autism and it's implication on family life at the
crucial time of diagnosis and beyond.
-
provides consultative, educational in-services/training etc. to
schools and other professionals.
-
access services, groups, and programs being
offered through Autism Services. These include: access to the services of one of our
autism consultants, recreational programs, therapeutic and
educational programs, sibling groups, social skills group etc.
-
provides recreational activities with the goal of integrating
individuals with
autism into the community.
