Autism Intervention Program

Autism Services has been contracted by the Saskatoon Health Region to deliver the Autism Intervention Program.  The Autism Intervention Program has been created under “The Framework and Action Plan for Autism Spectrum Disorders” and will provide behavioural intervention services and individualized program planning and consulting services for preschool children up to age 19.

Five Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Consultants, one for school aged children/youth, will staff the program and provide clinical intake, assessment, intervention planning, coordination of services and the parent training and coaching.  They will develop the programs for children preschool to age 19, and provide clinical supervision and administrative support of ASD Support Workers

Five Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Support Workers, two for school age children/youth, will staff the intervention component of the program in a direct service position working directly with children preschool age to age 19 presenting with ASD in a one to one setting in a home or clinic environment delivering a personal intervention plan developed for the child/youth.

The Senior (ASD) Consultant provides consulting services and has human resource/managerial responsibilities within the Autism Intervention Program. She/he's duties include intake, screening, coordination, family consultation, intervention program development, and transition programming.

The (ASD) Behaviour Specialist implements the program goals of the Autism Intervention Program which has been created under “The Framework and Action Plan for Autism Spectrum Disorders.” This is a  position with work both within the Saskatoon Health Region as well as taking part as a member of the Centralized Health Services Team. She/He will have roles associated with the Centralized Health Services Team as well as reviewing and consultation around behavior support plans created by consultants within the Saskatoon Health Region. The Behaviour Specialist will provide support to families and clients as required.
